Nathan Lewis is a North Carolina government relations and public affairs professional with extensive experience in legislative strategy, state budget development, public policy, and stakeholder engagement. He has built a strong reputation for helping nonprofits, municipalities, associations, and other organizations navigate state government and advance meaningful policy and funding priorities.
As Government Affairs Director for the North Carolina Lieutenant Governor, Nathan worked closely with legislators, state agencies, local officials, and community leaders to move major initiatives forward. During his tenure, he helped secure nearly $12 million for the North Carolina Apprenticeship Program, along with millions of dollars for nonprofit organizations supporting veterans, healthcare, education, and workforce development.
Nathan has extensive experience helping municipalities pursue state funding for critical community needs. His experience includes advancing appropriations for infrastructure, water and sewer improvements, public facilities, economic development projects, and other local priorities. He understands how to position municipal projects effectively, build support among decision-makers, and guide funding requests through the legislative and state budget process.
In addition to his appropriations work, Nathan helped develop and advance HB 387, which created the North Carolina Medal of Valor to recognize first responders who demonstrate extraordinary courage and service. His ability to build bipartisan relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders has helped organizations move complex projects from concept to completion.
Through Pine State Strategies, Nathan provides clients with practical guidance, strong relationships, and a clear understanding of North Carolina government. His work spans lobbying, government relations, public policy strategy, agency engagement, legislative monitoring, infrastructure advocacy, and coalition building.
Outside of work, Nathan enjoys spending time outdoors, following college football, visiting the North Carolina coast, and spending time with his family.
